Community Employment

The Community employment program offers participants support in preparing, finding and maintaining employment with our local community. Through skill development and job training we assist our clients in achieving their individual goals.

The Employment Coordinator assesses current skills and abilities to determine what type of job would best suit each client. Once the goals and interest of each client are discussed the coordinator would support each client in skill development, applying for positions, interview training and maintaining positions once secured. These positions can be paid or volunteer. The role of the job coach or coordinator is to support the clients as well as the employer. We provide a support system to help the individual learn their job duties, expectations, develop skills and as well as adjusts to their work environment. The job coach is available for as long as she is needed and provides ongoing support to both employer and the employee.

Through supported employment individuals are given the opportunity to establish new relationships and create natural supports within the workplace. Our vison is for participants to find meaningful paid employment in the community doing jobs they enjoy while meeting the employer's needs.

New Boundaries currently supports 35 clients with diverse abilities from the Windsor-West Hants area Some of the local businesses who benefitted from our program include the Central Home Improvement, SPCA, Donnies Taxi, Masonic Home, Windsor Elms Village, Windsor Day Care Centre, Pothier Motors, Jeff's Service Center, The Manning Farm, Mason's Apples and the Windsor Community Centre.

If you have any employment opportunities or would like to discuss job development opportunities, please feel free to contact our Community Employment Coordinator, Sara Woodward at 902-798-5160.
